Despite the difficulties COVID-19 has brought upon our small businesses, the North Valley Business Source Center continues to support expansion and business growth.
On July 7, 2020, Ligia Baires, owner of La Sabrosa restaurant in Sylmar, launched her second location La Sabrosa #2 in Van Nuys with the help from Maria Luviano, Program Manager at the North Valley BusinessSource Center.
“Maria is like an angel. Everything I need to know she knows and if she doesn’t, she finds out. Maria is who I am more connected with, she’s like my guardian angel! She let’s me know if I’m doing something right or wrong. The North Valley BusinessSource Center has helped me so much. If it wasn’t for them, I don’t know where I’d be.” said Ligia Baires, owner of La Sabrosa restaurant.
Over the past four years, Maria has worked closely with Ligia as her Business Coach to help reduce overhead costs which allowed Ligia to save more money and fund La Sabrosa #2 with her own profits, and create 1 full time position for a cook.
Maria has assisted Ligia with all pre-startup requirements for La Sabrosa #2 including license and permits, lease negotiations, transfer of ownership, cost-structure, and marketing. She also helped Ligia obtain the Al Fresco permit for both locations so she could provide outdoor seating.
Ligia has applied all the strategies she’s learned from her Business Coach to manage her new location. With HR consulting, Ligia has effectively organized her employees and work hours to increase productivity in the workplace. To gain more popularity, she was referred to Marketing Coach Luis Luna, who showed her the importance of branding, and how to attract new customers using social media and networking in the community.
In order to comply with COVID-19 regulations, Ligia has placed 6 FT decals to enforce social distancing and requires masks at all times. Customers are to order online or through the phone, and are allowed to enter the location to make payments only.
La Sabrosa #2 is located at 15709 Vanowen St., Van Nuys, Ca 91406 and currently offers curbside pick up. To place an order, call 818-782-3354.
