Direct Relief for Council District 6 for Micro-Enterprises
In the wake of one of the worst wildfire disasters in Los Angeles’ history, Councilmember Imelda Padilla has created the “Council District 6 Wildfire Relief Fund for Micro-Enterprises” to address income losses faced by housekeepers, gardeners, personal chefs, caretakers, and other self-employed workers who have suffered income losses and face significant challenges in accessing federal or state emergency resources.
With the initial support from Councilmember Imelda Padilla, ICON CDC is set to deliver direct cash aid to impacted workers and entrepreneurs through one-time payments. The grants will be awarded on a first-come, first served basis, and as funds allow.
ICON CDC is opening this application to its core clients: Street Vendors, Landscapers & Gardeners, Agricultural Workers, Construction Workers, Housekeepers, Delivery Drivers, Utility Workers, and other workers in the "Open Air Economy"- People who make their living by working outside. The Wildfire Relief Fund for Micro-Enterprises will provide targeted relief for informal service workers in Council District 6.
To be eligible for funding, community members must meet all of the following qualifications:
Primarily work outdoors, (street vendor, landscape worker, construction worker, etc.)
Have a demonstrated loss of income or property/belongings due to fires
Live or work within 10 miles of evacuation zone - Only for CD6 residents/businesses
Grant amounts will be: Individual $250 and Family $500
We will prioritize community members who experienced direct losses due to the fire.

AJCC Locations and Services
Los Angeles County hosts 18 America’s Job Centers of California (AJCCs) within the region. These centers provide direct services, including job placement and training support, for those impacted by wildfires.

211 LA is partnering with Airbnb.org, American Express, and Hilton to coordinate the distribution of emergency housing for people displaced by wildfires

Lyft Up Disaster Response program to provide access to free and discounted rides to help those in the affected area travel to and from shelters with critical resources. Riders in need can use the code CAFIRERELIEF25, valid for 2 rides up to $25 each ($50 total) for 2,000 riders from now until 1/15 at 11:59 p.m.

Residents in Los Angeles County who’ve been ordered to vacate their homes can get a credit from Uber to get to an evacuation site. The $40 will only be valid for trips to an active shelter and by using the code WILDFIRE25.

Charter Communications has unlocked over 35,000 Spectrum WiFi access points across Southern California. These are available to everyone, regardless of whether they are Spectrum customers.

Now through Wednesday, Jan. 15, T-Mobile is offering unlimited talk, text and data for T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile and Assurance Wireless customers who do not have these services as part of their current plan. These services are available to customers in Altadena, La Cañada Flintridge, Los Angeles, Palisades, Pasadena and Sierra Madre.
