Welder Loses Everything in Pacific Palisades Fire
Raymundo, a skilled welder, was on a job in Pacific Palisades when he noticed nearby wildfires but didn’t think they were an immediate threat. However, the flames spread quickly, and he was caught off guard when firefighters ordered an urgent evacuation. As he attempted to gather his tools, he was told there was no time—he had to leave immediately.
As he drove away, he saw in his rearview mirror how dangerously close the fire had come. The next day, when he tried to return for his equipment, he was devastated to learn that the home—and everything inside—had been completely destroyed. With his tools gone and no funds to replace them, Raymundo is now unable to take on new work. The financial support from the Council District 6 Wildfire Relief Grant for Informal Service Workers and ICON CDC will help Raymundo replace his equipment.
