Wildfire Relief Helps Single Mother Rebuild After Devastating Loss
For years, Maria worked as a house cleaner in Pacific Palisades and had built a strong connection with the families she served. One elderly couple, in particular, had become like family to her, and their home was a place filled with warmth and kindness.
But when wildfires tore through the area, everything changed. The couple’s home was completely destroyed, leaving them displaced—and Maria without a job. As a single mother, she struggled for weeks, overwhelmed by the financial burden of rent, groceries, and bills, unsure of when she would find work again.
Just when hope seemed out of reach, a friend introduced her to the Council District 6 Wildfire Relief Fund for Informal Service Workers with ICON CDC. Maria applied and was selected to receive assistance, which provided much-needed support to help her buy groceries and care for her family during this difficult time.
Maria is deeply grateful for this opportunity and extends her heartfelt thanks to ICON CDC for their relief efforts. With their help, she was able to regain stability and focus on rebuilding her future.
